Camping in Queensland: Sunshine Coast and Brisbane
Are you after a good camping trip in the old Queensland territory? This northern area provides some of the country's (dare we say, world's?) most beautiful campsites. Let's face it, it's quite hard to beat waking up to the sounds of the ebbing ocean tide - especially on the Australian east coast.
There are tonnes of amazing campsites all around Queensland, so how can you even begin to narrow it down and choose? Well, we've come to help you simplify your search with some of our favourite sports between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. These sites are only a coupleĀ hours drive from one another so you can take a weekend to check them all out in one go!
Yarramalong Recreation Centre
Head out around dusk in search of unique wildlife like the local platypus.
The Yarramalong Recreation Centre is filled with family fun for all as it is 160 acres of scenic land. You can choose to camp in the main campground, or pop on over to the island, but either way you're in for a treat. You could likely spend your entire stay exploring Reynolds Creek. Grab a canoe and head out around dusk in search of unique wildlife like the local platypus. But even if you don't get to see this elusive water creature, you'll likely see some possums or koalas hanging out on the shores as you paddle on by.
Bushwalk the Scenic Rim and be sure to hit popular landmarks like the Governor's Chair or the Gorges of Mr Greville. If you're not ready to settle down once you get back to the campervan, you can always head to the recreation hall that comes with table tennis, pool tables and volleyball nets!
Boreen Point CampgroundĀ
Love to escape to the lake? Boreen Point is the ideal getaway for you then! Located along Lake Cootharaba in the Sunshine Coast, you get a real camping experience in the natural bushland. Your day can start with a leisurely kayak paddle around the lake in the morning before moving on to an afternoon of cruising around in the sailboat. This area has also been popular for families that like to fish, so don't forget your poles at home. If you're more into land activities, that's okay, this site has plenty of those as well. Go for a bushwalk and take in all the natural flora and fauna - the area is great for some exotic bird watching.
Of course, the campgrounds are also equipped with facilities for some serious family fun outside of your traditional camping activities as well. Zip around the BMX track or shoot some hoops on the basketball area.
