Why are so many Australians using motorbikes?
Motorcycles are a type of vehicle that is increasingly growing in popularity in Australia. The Australian Bureau of Statistics' Motor Vehicle Census released last year detailed the growth in people buying different types of vehicles, and the increase seen in motorcycle registrations has actually been greater than any other.
Between 2009 and 2014, there was a 25 per cent increase in the number of motorcycles on register, compared to a national average across all modes of transport of 12.5 per cent. This is strength that has continued through to last year as well. Between 2013 and 2014, the number of motorbikes registered rose by 4.8 per cent - passenger vehicle registrations only rose by 2.1 per cent in the same period.
So clearly, Australians love to get on their bike and ride, and there are certain to be many who are still seeking quick and simple motorbike financing so they can hit the road. But what are the benefits of driving one of these over other types of vehicle?
Full of fuel efficiency
When you buy a motorbike, you're making a purchase that could save you money in the long run. The Australian Bureau of Statistics' Survey of Motor Vehicle use, released in 2013, shows that motorcycles have the lowest fuel consumption of any vehicle in the country, when viewed on a kilometres per litre basis.
That's the sort of efficiency that can save you a lot of money when you hit the gas pump. You're helping out the environment in style!
The power of parking
We've all had the situation where we circle the block for what seems like forever in our car, desperately trying to find a park on a busy day. These days are over when you purchase a motorbike! Slight and easy to manoeuvre, you can park your bike much more easily than a bulky car.
Great aesthetic
At some point in our lives, we've all idolised someone who rides a bike. It could be Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2, classic James Dean, or even one of the members of the Wild Hogs film. There's a timeless chic to owning a motorbike that has proven endlessly attractive to vehicle buyers, as the sales figures from the ABS can attest.
When you're in the market for a motorbike or something else, for many people taking out a vehicle loan is part of the process. When you work with AAA Finance, you get access to our panel of 23 lenders that can provide a wealth of options to get you on two wheels, and onto the road.
